Meet the Teachers

The people at the heart of Harbour Yoga Studio — experienced, approachable, and genuinely passionate about making yoga accessible to everyone in Brighton.

Who Teaches at Harbour Yoga

Our teachers bring warmth, depth of knowledge, and a shared belief that yoga is for every body.

Maya Collins — Studio Founder

Maya Collins founded Harbour Yoga Studio with a clear purpose: to create a genuinely welcoming space where Brighton locals could explore yoga without intimidation, regardless of their age, background or experience level.

Maya teaches across several of our class formats, including Vinyasa Flow, Yin and Beginners Yoga, adapting her approach to suit the group in front of her. She draws on her experience of working with a wide range of students — from those stepping onto a mat for the very first time to those managing injury or returning to practice after a long break.

She also leads our Pregnancy Yoga sessions, which she approaches with particular care, creating a calm, supportive environment for expectant mothers at every stage of pregnancy.

Maya's teaching style is encouraging and unhurried. She prioritises clear instruction, honest alignment cues and a relaxed atmosphere where questions are always welcome.

Our Teaching Philosophy

What you can expect every time you come through the door.

Beginners Always Welcome

No prior experience is ever assumed. Whether it is your first class or your hundredth, our teachers meet you where you are and offer modifications so every pose is accessible to you.

Small, Attentive Classes

We keep class numbers intentionally small so that every student receives meaningful attention and can practise with confidence, not just get lost in a crowd.

Safe and Specific Guidance

From Pregnancy Yoga to Yin, our teachers offer clear, considered instruction tailored to the format — so you always feel looked after and never out of your depth.

Questions About Our Teachers

A few things people often ask before their first visit.

Will I have the same teacher each week?

We aim to provide consistency wherever possible. Get in touch or check our current timetable for details of which teacher leads each regular class.

Are your teachers trained to work with beginners and pregnancy?

Yes. Maya Collins and the Harbour Yoga teaching team have experience working with complete beginners and with pregnant students. Our Pregnancy Yoga sessions are led with specialist care and attention to safety at every stage.

Can I speak to a teacher before my first class?

Absolutely. We encourage new students to get in touch ahead of their first session — particularly if you have any injuries, health considerations or questions about which class is right for you. Visit our Contact page to reach us.

What if I have a health condition or injury?

Please let us know before you book. Our teachers will always do their best to offer appropriate modifications, and in some cases may recommend a particular class format as a starting point.

Ready to Join a Class?

The best way to experience our teachers is to come along and meet them in person.

If you are new to Harbour Yoga Studio, a trial class is the perfect way to get started. You will have the chance to meet the teacher, settle into the space and find out whether the class is right for you — with no pressure to commit.

Take a look at our full class timetable to find a session that suits you, or book a trial class and we will take care of the rest.
